Independent Bookstore Day Celebration!

Plenty is happy to announce our participation in  the 11th Anniversary of Independent Bookstore Day!

We will have exclusive indie merchandise available for purchase, giveaways, snacks, balloons- all the party things needed to celebrate independent bookstores and the vital roles they play in our communities- AND to celebrate and thank YOU, our patrons and friends, who so kindly choose to shop with us and keep us here.

We have decided to add a "read-in" this year. At 2pm, we are asking everyone across the region to stop what they are doing, pick up a book and read for 6 minutes. By reading for just 6 minutes a day, we can reduce stress by as much as 68% (results found in an official study by the University of Sussex). Please come join the fun downtown for the read-in! But if you can't make it to downtown Cookeville at that time, read wherever you are and post a photo, using the hashtag #CKVLreads.

Independent Bookstore Day (Indie Bookstore Day) was established in 2013 to promote, celebrate, and highlight the value of the Independent bookstore community. The day has been observed on the last Saturday of April every year since 2013. This year there are over 900 stores participating across the country. Independent Bookstore Day is organized by the American Booksellers Association, a national not-for-profit trade organization, that works with booksellers and industry partners to ensure the success and profitability of independently owned book retailers, and to assist in expanding the community of the book.
